I don't think it's our government, per say, that is so far off track. I believe it is our Greedy capitalistic system that has been allowed to spiral out of control. For a country with such high moral standards, set out by our founding fathers, we have a lot of work to do to achieve them. Why should only a very few own 98% of our countie's wealth and resources, not to mention how much of that has been sold to foreign powers, and is enjoyed by the wealthy all over the planet?
I believe it is the wealthy who control the government. There for this is not a democracy. It is an autocracy, controlled by the wealthy few. The powerful corporations, greedy banks and many other crooks in high places control our senators and congressmen, and a lot more! I believe we need a very large increase in taxes for the rich! It is they who have stolen our resources and our future. They need to give it back!! But this may be almost impossible, since they control the government. The rich just keep on getting richer while the poor stay poor and the middle class becomes poor. Why do we have to have two incomes to maintain a normal middle class lifestyle? And, we still are buried in credit card debt? Why can't a young middle class family afford to own a home? Why has our society made it so difficult to enjoy the freedoms that are guaranteed by our constitution? Greed and corruption on every level? Who benefits directly from war? I believe we are being oppressed more than ever by the greedy over class that controls government. We need to make major changes in the way we think, the way we allow run away capitalism to take from us. Yes We Can!
I love my country as much as anyone else. I believe in the "American Way", but, we need to have morality in high places, not short sighted self interests. If we don't make some major changes now, what will be left for our children? Wars. Global warming. The rich get richer, while the middle class gets poor.
